Fitzgerald Assistant Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School
Education B.Sc., Central Missouri
State U.; Ph.D., Institute of Molecular Virology, St. Louis Univ,
Missouri
Dr. Fitzgerald graduated from Central Missouri State University and obtained his Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from Saint Louis University. He did his postdoctoral studies at the Harvard School of Public Health in the Cardiovascular Laboratory of Dr. Edgar Haber under the mentorship of Dr. Guy L. Reed. In 1999 he joined Dr. Freeman's Lipid Metabolism Unit at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Fitzgerald has now become an independent investigator, having been awarded an RO1 grant from the NHLBI. The focus of his research is on the ABCA1 cholesterol efflux transporter and the application of a mass spectrometry approach to define protein-protein interactions that regulate the transporter.

Lee Dolat Technician
Education B.S., U. of Connecticut
I am studying the activity of ABCA12. A human mutation in ABCA12 results in a severe skin disease, Harlequin Ichthyosis.

Zahedi Mujawar Research Fellow
Education M.Sc. (microbiology); M.Phil., Ph.D. (biochemistry and mol. biology), George Washington U.
I study the effect of HIV/SIV infection on reverse cholesterol transport and coronary artery disease; the molecular mechanisms underlying ABCA1-dependent cholesterol efflux; and foam cell formation and atherosclerosis.
